Malaysia Salsa Congress 2006

After performing a full evening show at the Hard Rock Cafe, Singapore, Dave and Zoë were off the beach for Malaysia Salsa Festival.  There they were welcomed with necklaces of Malaysian flowers, the most helpful and considerate staff, great dancing, and packed classes.  Salsa was everywhere: on the beach, at the pool, in the studios, in the halls.  Meals were elaborate beach side picnics, with so much great tasting food, and delicious succulant fresh fruit!  Dave met a little furry friend and Zoë met her new friend Gavin Chan.  We each wish we could have taken our new found friends back home with us.

Paradizo Dance Blog b a
We had a few days off to explore.  We went to Little India and found a number of Hindu temples.
In Singapore, we worked for a dance school run by Suman who arranged a full evening performance of 6 shows at the Hard Rock Cafe Singapore!  The show was a big hit with lots of salsa dancing throughout.
Dave and Zoë took a 5 hr bus ride from Singapore to Malaysia.  It was interesting to watch the landscape change as we drove north.  On the way there no one knew who we were.  But on the bus ride back to Singapore after everyone saw our performances at Malaysia congress, we had a blast talking with everyone!
It was love at first sight.  Dave fell in love...
With a MONKEY !!!
There was salsa nonstop, everywhere.  Even at the pool!

Zoë, Dave & Gavin.  This was the first time Dave and Zoë met Gavin, an extremely talented dancer from Malaysia.  Gavin helped choreograph a solo for Zoë after Zoë saw an amazing solo of his about a slave’s rise to freedom.
