Alaska Dollars for Dogs Benefit 2010

Alaska was so much fun!  Paradizo was invited by the amazing Lorna Souza for her fundraiser benefit for Dollars For Dogs & Crime Stoppers.  Lorna had also arranged for Paradizo to perform for the Go Red For Women luncheon.  The show was a hit!

We were in Anchorage Feb 15-19.  The Alaska tour included seeing one teenage moose, a gorgeous view of downtown Anchorage from our cozy suite at the Captain Cook hotel, and a schedule packed with interviews by local radio and filming for the local CBS weather report!

We taught two workshops for a salsa dance school in Anchorage called Alaska Dance Productions.  Michelle, ADP’s director, had seen us perform in LA and was eager to take advantage of our presence in Anchorage.  We taught NY Style Turn Patterns and Basic Dips & Drops.

The weather was not as cold as we expected and Zoë didn’t have to break out her electric blanket as part of her performance warm-up!  However, next week’s Anchorage dog sledding festival would suffer from not enough snow!

The benefit show was a great success.  Paradizo shared the program with Studio 49, a children’s dance school in Anchorage.  Christopher M. Bauer, founder of The Giving Portrait (www.TheGivingPortrait.org) took the most stunning photos of our show.  We are so grateful!

Below are photos of our trip, and more photos to come of our show!

We saw a moose in the back yard!  Luckily, he was only a teenage moose, not a full grown moose...
Of course,
lots of moose poo...
We performed for Go Red for Women & were interviewed by local TV.
We were so busy, the only sights we saw were from our beautiful hotel suite window!
We have to come back to Alaska to climb those mountains & visit some glaciers!
Our fans after the show!
